SEBASTIAN INLET — who is  54 and dons graying hair and shaggy beard teams up with filmmaker Billy Yeager  to re-create the spirit, smells and “soul” of surfing southern Brevard County in their teenage years.

Yeager, wife and Nemo a red footed tortoise , just moved into Long Point Park in their 1970 Avion travel trailer to spend three months filming the retro documentary “Sebastian Beach: One Fine Day,.

The upcoming Soul Movie targets southern Brevard surfers:

Filmmaker Billy Yeager seeks surfing footage from Brevard County during the 1960s and ’70s for use in his movie “Sebastian Beach: One Fine Day.”

“Sebastian Beach: One Fine Day” is looks for a likely release early next year. Footage will resemble scenes shot using 16 mm film..

The California Surf Festival  closes today and begins with the 4th annual “Big Shorts From Little Groms” filmmakers contest. 

Kids 18 and under were invited to make an action sports film under 5 minutes long.

Winners in the past have gone on to be hired by some of the biggest surf companies in the world. 

The Still Point, by Taki Bibelas, is one of the major award-winning films screening in film festivals this year. This French filmmaker, inspired by the work of T.S. Eliot, asks world pioneer surfers about their experience of what it is like to be in the still point of the water. The answers are insightful and thought provoking.  Interviews with Mickey Muñoz, Tom Morey, Paul Strauch, Skip Frye, Jericho Poppler, Steve Pezman, Jeff Divine, Doc Paskowitz, George Downing and many more, have made this film intriguing and in demand! 

Closing the Festival will be the annual Silver Surfer Award, this year presented to San Diego’s legendary surfer and shaper, Skip Frye.

The Endless Summer is the classic  1966 film in the surf movie that inspired an entire generation.

Directed by  Bruce Brown, Endless Summer follows two surfers, namely Mike Hynson and Robert August, on a surf trip around the world.  They travel to the coasts of Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Tahiti and Hawaii in a quest for new surf spots and introduce locals to the sport.

There is also guest appearances from other important surfers of the time, such as Miki Dora, Eugene Harris, Phil Edwards and Butch Van Artsdalen, also appear.

Its title comes from the idea, expressed at both the beginning and end of the film, that if one had enough time and money it would be possible to follow the summer around the world, making it endless.

Seiously though, no self respecting surfer can go without having an endless surf poster on their wall.
